When the Earth is your Apple.

The story of a rare journey of an Alaskan mother and ten year-old son as they give up their material possessions to explore the world for a year.

The idea of taking a gap year conjures up quite an image. While surely the most exciting, nerve-wracking, tiring, and exhilarating 8 months of my young son’s life, it’s no wonder why they’re becoming increasingly popular over recent years. Probably the best aspect of a gap year is that it can pan out to be anything you want them to be; volunteering, gaining experience for your chosen career, even working full time to fund the next leg of the trip. It’s a time that can be tailored to your every whim. Exciting!

The most difficult part about traveling the world isn’t the logistics of the trip -- it’s finding the motivation to go. It takes a lot of courage to leave your life and journey into the unknown. It’s the step that most people never get past.

There are many ways to take a family gap year and this is our story.
